Sample Storage and Dispensing Services
The FAF has -20ºC and -80ºC freezers available for long term storage of DNA samples.
The FAF will also ship stored DNA samples at the client’s request. The service includes removing an aliquot of DNA from the storage tube into either an individual tube or 96-well plate, diluting the sample to desired concentration if required, shipping boxes, arranging courier pick-up, and telephone or e-mail follow-up with recipient. Investigators are responsible for material transfer agreements (MTA) obtained through the Johns Hopkins Office of Licensing and Technology.
Protocols
Sample Storage
Samples received for storage from clients may be subject to evaporation if not submitted in cryovials or tubes with o-rings.
Sample Shipment
If recipient has specific requirements for DNA concentration, DNA receptacle, shipping containers or shipping conditions, it is the responsibility of the investigator to supply written instructions to the FAF.
